Checking Environment Agency flood warnings for Wiltshire and Somerset…

This uses Environment Agency flood and river level data from the real-time data API (Beta). Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Get your home ready

Before the next storm. Start with the official steps, then look at what can be fitted.

  1. Get warnings sent to you. Free by phone, text or email from the Environment Agency, for river, sea and, in some areas, groundwater flooding. There are no warnings for surface water flooding. Sign up on GOV.UK
  2. Make a flood plan. GOV.UK has a personal flood plan to fill in, and says to keep it with spare medication, documents and contact details. Personal flood plan
  3. Know where to turn things off. Find your water stop tap, gas valve and electricity main switch before you need them. GOV.UK: Prepare for flooding
  4. Keep water out, or limit the damage. Flood doors and barriers, self-closing air bricks and non-return valves keep water out; tiled floors and raised sockets cut the damage when it gets in. GOV.UK guidance
